BYD Launches in Gabon, Africa, Pioneering a New Paradigm for Sustainable Development
On June 5, 2025, BYD, in collaboration with local dealer LOXEA (a subsidiary of the CFAO Group), hosted a brand launch event in the Olam Industrial Zone of Libreville, the capital of Gabon. The event attracted nearly 100 attendees, including media representatives, government officials, automotive enthusiasts, and potential car buyers. Gabon’s Minister of Trade, Gninga Chaning Zenaba, also attended the ceremony, jointly marking a new chapter in BYD’s African expansion.
As an environmental leader in Africa (with over 85% forest coverage), Gabon is accelerating its "Green Economy Transition Plan." "BYD’s choice of Gabon holds strategic significance," emphasized Marc Hirschfeld, CEO of CFAO Mobility. "The country’s environmental policies align closely with BYD’s brand vision of ‘cooling the Earth by 1°C.’ Leveraging our sales network across Africa, we will demonstrate our commitment to ‘rooting in Africa, serving Africa’ and expand the Gabon model to the entire West African region."

During his speech, Yao Shu, BYD’s Africa Automotive Sales Director, stated, "Entering the Gabon market signifies BYD’s further growth in Africa. Gabon’s vision for electrification resonates deeply with BYD’s mission. Gabon’s drivers will soon experience the exceptional driving performance and green mobility solutions enabled by BYD’s globally leading new energy technologies."
First Public Exposure to the BYD ATTO 3
At the launch, BYD introduced two flagship models: the BYD ATTO 3 (known as Yuan PLUS in China) and the Dolphin. The ATTO 3, BYD’s first model to enter overseas markets, has already gained widespread recognition among global consumers. With its aerodynamic design, sleek lines, and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.3 seconds, the ATTO 3 promises Gabon consumers a convenient and comfortable urban commuting experience. The Dolphin, inspired by marine aesthetics, offers intelligent, safe, and efficient features, further diversifying mobility options for Gabon’s users.
