Maremlyn has completed a nine-part accessory programme for the MG IM6, the electric fastback SUV sold as the IM by MG. It is not a list of lookalike parts. Every item is tooled from 3D laser scans of the original body, so each part mounts where the factory already put a hole. Nothing is cut, drilled or painted to make it fit.

The range covers both ends of ownership: the parts a distributor fits before delivery, and the parts an owner buys in the first month — because the car is new and the roads are not.

What the programme covers

Nine SKUs, grouped by what they defend:

• Underbody — aluminium-magnesium-manganese chassis plate set for the front, battery pack, rear and motor areas.
• Front end — ABS front mesh grille in matte black, glossy black or carbon-fibre pattern.
• Wheel arches — four-piece PP mudguard set.
• Cabin — TPE floor mat set: floor mats, seat-back mats and a rear trunk mat.
• Glass roof — grey or black suede static-cling sunroof shade.
• Doors — ABS door anti-kick pads, inner and outer door sill guards, rear trunk guard.
• Windows — PC window visors.
• Body — exterior styling kit, including body modification parts and exterior trim.

All of it ships for left- and right-hand drive, and for both the standard and long-range variants.

What each part actually solves

The battery pack is the most expensive panel on the car and the least protected. It sits low and between the axles, which is exactly the height a kerb, a speed bump or a broken road surface arrives at. The front intake is where debris starts its journey into the cooling stack. Leaves, insects and road grit collect on the condenser, and the first symptom is not a warning light — it is a car that runs warmer in traffic. The ABS mesh grille closes that opening with an open hexagonal pattern: airflow stays, debris stops at the surface, and cleaning becomes a two-minute job instead of a radiator-out job. It comes in matte black, glossy black and carbon-fibre pattern, so the same part serves a stock car and a modified one.

The wheel arches throw everything the tyre picks up along the sill line. A four-piece PP mudguard set interrupts that spray before it reaches the paint behind the wheel — the area that turns grey first on a white car. PP rather than ABS is deliberate: it flexes on contact with a kerb instead of cracking.

The cabin floor is what ages first. The TPE set covers three surfaces in one order — footwells, the backs of the rear seats, and the trunk — moulded with raised edges so a spilled coffee or a wet surf bag stays inside the mat. TPE keeps its shape and stays odourless in a hot cabin, which is the practical difference from cheaper PVC that hardens and smells in its second summer.

A full glass roof is a greenhouse in summer. The IM6's roof is one large pane, and in a market where the car parks outdoors the cabin heat arrives through it. The suede shade is a static-cling panel: it holds to the glass without suction cups, adhesive or residue, so it goes up in the hot season and comes down without leaving a mark — the failure mode of every stick-on shade on the market.

Door edges take the damage nobody sees until resale. Two parts handle it: ABS anti-kick pads on the door panel, where a shoe lands every time someone gets out in a tight parking bay, and inner and outer sill guards plus a rear trunk guard where luggage and tool bags are dragged across paint. Both are the cheapest way to keep a two-year-old car looking like a two-month-old car.

Windows fog and rain arrives sideways at low speed. PC window visors let the glass stay open a finger's width in rain and keep airflow moving without the noise of full ventilation — useful in humid markets, and a part that distributors sell in sets rather than singles.

The styling kit is stance and protection in the same part. Body modification parts and exterior trim sit on the widest, most scraped points of the body, and give the vehicle the finish most owners actually want without a paint shop visit.

Why IM6 buyers shop differently

An electric SUV changes the accessory conversation in three ways. The battery is the component nobody wants to damage, so underbody protection stops being an off-road extra and becomes the first purchase. The cabin is quieter, so rattles and smells from cheap mats are more obvious than they were in a combustion car. Fitment: three things to confirm before a quote

Hand of drive. LHD and RHD share the exterior, but interior items — mats, sill guards, kick pads — are handed. Say which one you are stocking.

Battery and range variant. Standard and long-range cars do not share every underbody dimension. The plate set is tooled per variant, so the variant has to be on the order.

Roof specification. A car with the glass roof takes the shade; a car without it does not. This is the single most common mismatch on IM6 accessory orders.

Behind it: four production bases in Guangzhou, more than 80 units of production equipment, in-house mould making by a 12-person development team, and around 300 new items developed each year.
