In October 2024, BYD achieved impressive sales in New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), totaling 502,657 units sold. This includes all-electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), as BYD has shifted entirely to NEVs since stopping the sale of purely internal combustion engine (ICE) cars in April 2022.
In terms of production, BYD manufactured 536,134 units in October, bringing the cumulative production for 2024 to 3,283,439 units. The company’s international sales of NEVs reached 31,192 units, with 28,012 units already exported. In addition, BYD’s battery installations for electric vehicles and energy storage amounted to 21.018 GWh, contributing to a year-to-date capacity of 148.738 GWh.
In terms of market trends, the share of all-electric vehicles in October sales dropped slightly to 37.9%, while plug-in hybrid vehicles rose to 62.1%. BYD sold 189,614 BEVs and 310,912 PHEVs in October, with PHEV sales continuing to lead over BEVs since February.
