How to Find a Reliable EV Accessory Supplier: 7 Questions That Separate Factories from Fakes

Every EV accessory buyer has the same fear: send the money, wait six weeks, and get either a warehouse of dead stock or radio silence. The good news is that reliability isn't a vibe — it's checkable. Run any supplier through these seven questions before you commit a single euro.

1. Can you actually reach them?

Check the website: is there a physical address, a landline, a named contact person — or just a WhatsApp number and a form that never gets answered? Then test it. Email the sales address with a question about a specific model (try Sealion 7, Atto 3, Dolphin Surf). If the reply takes three days and reads like a template, imagine what happens when a shipment is defective. A supplier you can't reach after payment isn't a supplier — it's a gamble.

2. Do they care about their own store?

Look at their social media. A factory or distributor serious about the business posts regularly — new models, production updates, trade show appearances. Six months of silence is a confession: they don't invest in the storefront they show the world, so what makes you think they invest in the product you can't see? Activity isn't proof of quality, but total silence is a red flag you don't need to investigate further.

3. Are they actually the factory?

Factory-direct saves you 30–50% — but half the "factories" online are trading companies with good websites. Three tells: they can show you their production lines on video — like ours, open on our factory page (a real factory can, instantly), they answer technical questions about tooling and materials without saying "let me ask the factory," and their MOQ makes sense for a factory, not a broker. Ask for a live video call and watch them walk the floor. Cheap cameras are rare in fake factories.

4. Do they interrogate you back?

Here's a counterintuitive test: a good supplier asks you questions. What market are you selling into? Which trims does your region actually get? What's your install channel? A supplier who only talks price doesn't care if the product fits — they care about the order. The ones who push back on your assumptions are the ones protecting you from your own mistake.

5. Do they push samples before volume?

Any supplier who pushes you straight to a large order is telling you their interest is the invoice, not your success. A sample-first policy — even a paid sample — is the single cheapest insurance you can buy. Pay attention to the sample experience: shipping speed, packaging quality, and whether they send fitment confirmation in writing before you pay. The sample IS the first batch. The whole relationship is visible in it.

6. Do they make payment risky for you?

Structure matters: a small deposit to start production, the balance against documentation or pre-shipment inspection — this is normal and healthy. Be suspicious of 100% upfront demands, accounts in third-party names, or pressure to "pay today, price expires tomorrow." If the deal structure protects only them, it's not a partnership — it's a transfer of risk from their warehouse to your wallet.

7. What happens when something goes wrong?

Read their warranty terms before you order, not after a problem appears. Is there a written policy? A named after-sales contact? A process for defective units that doesn't require you to ship a full batch back at your cost? The answer to this question is worth more than any discount they offer you.
